This quote sums up exactly how I am feeling today.
I had to say goodbye to some of my closest friends … my acquired family.
Yes, I will be seeing them all again … some within the next few weeks, but I can’t help but think of this chapter of my book as ending. Yesterday when the Wells College Class of 2012 took their diplomas, it made everything official.
No more chasing drunk Sara down Main Street in the pouring rain.
No more gossip sessions in Rachel’s bed.
No more assists from Juli on the soccer field.
No more inappropriate compliments everyday from Pat.
No more having to explain in detail the most simple stories to drunk Ryan.
No more obnoxiously loud techno or rap music across the hall from Justin.
Yes, this is an ending that is hard to accept. Next year won’t be the same without my friends, and it physically hurts thinking that everyone will be going in different directions in the years to come.
Do we have to grow up? Do we have to be adults now?! Take me back to sophomore year and Main 2nd and the quad. Can we rewind back to my favorite parts? Let’s relive some of our soccer games, Mainly 80’s, meals together in the dining hall, Disco Dodge and days at the lake and really soak them up. I want to soak up every second and appreciate every event with these amazing people who shaped me, caught me, bandaged me, and made everything whole again. I’m not sure if they realize all they have done for me …
I love my college family.
